About Marco G. DeSanto
Arbitrator, mediator and facilitator with General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer experience.
Marco G. DeSanto is the founder of DeSanto Arbitration. He is an attorney licensed in Michigan and is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
His career has been spent largely as an in-house legal leader for global businesses:
- Sotheby's: EVP & Global General Counsel (2020 to 2024); then Chief Operating Officer of RM Sotheby's (2024)
- Tenneco: SVP Legal and General Counsel and Secretary of New Tenneco (2018 to 2020)
- Federal-Mogul Powertrain: SVP, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer (2016 to 2018)
- Mercedes-Benz USA: General Counsel North America (2012 to 2016)
- Mercedes-Benz Financial Services and Daimler: Business Controls, M&A and corporate counsel roles (2005 to 2012)
- Warner Norcross & Judd LLP: Associate Attorney (1999 to 2005)
That experience spans commercial contracts, supply and distribution, dealer networks, M&A, corporate governance, compliance programs and international operations. It gives him a practical view of how disputes affect businesses, and why speed, cost, clarity and discretion matter to the parties. Years of handling sensitive board, compliance and transaction matters inform a process that keeps business disputes private, confidential by agreement of the parties.
He also founded Strategic Risk Advisory LLC in 2024, through which he handles legal process and AI implementation consulting.
He has completed arbitration training through a Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution-approved program, covering state and federal arbitration law, arbitration procedure, drafting arbitration awards, arbitrator skills, ethics and arbitration advocacy.
Education: J.D., Wayne State University Law School.
